House of Representatives 120 seats · 3-year term · Mixed-member proportional representation (MMP), combining electorate seats elected by first-past-the-post and party-list seats

The King is head of state and is represented in New Zealand by the Governor-General. The Prime Minister is head of government and must command the confidence of the elected House of Representatives; eligible citizens and residents must enrol, but voting is not compulsory. Parliament normally has 120 members and a three-year term, although it may be dissolved earlier.
