  • National Assembly 180 seats 路 5-year term 路 Mixed single-round system combining majority voting and proportional representation; members are elected by direct and secret universal suffrage.
  • Senate 100 seats 路 5-year term 路 70 senators are elected by indirect universal suffrage on a regional basis; 30 are appointed by the President of the Republic.

The President is directly elected for a seven-year term and is eligible for re-election. The Prime Minister is appointed by the President; the Senate is only partly elected, with 70 senators chosen indirectly and 30 appointed by the President.
