National Congress of Honduras 128 seats · 4-year term · unicameral chamber elected by direct vote; proportional representation in multi-member departments and simple majority in single-member districts

The President is both head of state and head of government and is directly elected by simple majority for a four-year term, together with three Presidential Designates. The CNE administers internal, primary and general elections, plebiscites and referendums; the Electoral Justice Tribunal handles electoral appeals. Presidential reelection remains constitutionally prohibited in the constitutional text, although its legal status has been contested since the 2015 Supreme Court ruling.
