People's National Assembly 407 seats · 5-year term · Open-list proportional representation using the largest-remainder method in multi-member constituencies
Council of the Nation 177 seats · 6-year term · Two-thirds indirectly elected by local and wilaya assemblies; one-third appointed by the President of the Republic

The President is directly elected for a five-year term and is subject to a two-term limit. The Council of the Nation is not a nationally voter-elected office: two-thirds of its members are chosen indirectly by local assemblies and one-third are appointed by the President. The Prime Minister is appointed when legislative elections produce a presidential majority; otherwise, the President appoints a Head of Government from the parliamentary majority.
