The President is elected indirectly by the Knesset for a single seven-year term. The Prime Minister is not separately elected by voters: after Knesset elections, the President assigns a Member of Knesset to form a government, which must receive Knesset confidence. Knesset terms are normally four years but may end early through dissolution.
