Assembly of the Union 33 seats · 5-year term · Mixed system: 24 deputies are directly elected in single-member constituencies by two-round majority voting, while 9 deputies are indirectly elected by the asse

The President is both head of state and head of government and appoints the ministers. The presidency has a five-year term and is elected by direct universal suffrage using a two-round majority system; the Assembly of the Union is fully renewed every five years. The CENI manages and supervises elections, while the Supreme Court handles final adjudication and proclamation functions.
