Council of Representatives 40 seats · 4-year term · Directly elected by secret general ballot from single-member constituencies using a two-round majority system
Shura Council 40 seats · 4-year term · Members appointed by Royal Order

The King appoints the Prime Minister and ministers. Bahrain has a bicameral National Assembly: the Council of Representatives is elected for four-year terms, while the Shura Council is appointed by the King. Election administration is handled by the Election and Referendum Directorate, with judicial supervision by the Higher Committee for the Supervision of Election and Referendum Integrity.
